Bolivia is one of the most known South American countries affected by the coffee rust disease. This country has a long and rich coffee culture. However, their coffee crops started to show signs of the coffee rust disease in 2014.

The outbreak of this disease affected the crop production and the lives of farmers. Millions of jobs were lost and coffee plantations spent a lot of money on fungicides to stop or even just to minimize the effects of the coffee rust disease.
