Although East Timor only produces less than 1% of the world’s total coffee production, coffee is still the country’s major export commodity. In fact, up to date, coffee provides a substantial income for about a quarter of East Timor population.

Thus, the coffee rust disease highly affects the country’s economy. Coffee farmers from all over the country were devastated by the results of the disease to sprouting coffee plants. The major production of coffee has been highly affected. Coffee plantation owners tried to eliminate the problem by using different types of fungicides.
